Dear Colleagues and Supporters of the ºÚÁÏÍø School of Architecture,

As we wrap up another dynamic and productive academic year, I want to express my deepest gratitude to all of you, our faculty, staff, and community supporters, for the incredible work you do on behalf of our students and the School of Architecture. Your energy, talent, and dedication continue to define the strength and spirit of our school, and I could not be more proud of what we’ve accomplished together.

This year brought exciting opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and professional growth across all of our programs. Whether guiding students through the rigors of studio work, mentoring research initiatives, leading field experiences, or supporting the infrastructure behind the scenes, each of you has played an essential role in advancing our mission to educate the next generation of design leaders.

I am especially thrilled to congratulate Assistant Professor Saman Jamshidi, who was named the College of Fine Arts Teacher of the Year. This is a prestigious and well-deserved recognition of Professor Jamshidi’s outstanding dedication to teaching excellence and his ability to inspire and empower our students through thoughtful pedagogy and design inquiry. Please join me in celebrating this remarkable achievement.

Looking ahead, we have much to be excited about. Thanks to your insight and engagement, future efforts will help us further align our academic programs with emerging challenges and opportunities in architecture, landscape architecture, and interior architecture and design. I encourage you to continue sharing your ideas, participating in school-wide conversations, and exploring new ways to support student success.

As the summer session begins, I hope you’ll take some well-deserved time to rest, recharge, and find fresh inspiration. Whether you're traveling, engaging in creative practice, conducting research, or simply enjoying a slower pace, I wish you a restorative and fulfilling summer hiatus.

Thank you once again for all that you do. The future of the School of Architecture is bright because of your continued passion and commitment.

Warm regards,

Danny Ortega
