Dear Colleagues,
At moments like this, I think it’s worth reflecting on the full impact of what we have done together. As more than 3,500 students cross the stage at the Thomas & Mack Center, signifying that they have achieved their educational goal, the human impact of our work seems almost beyond comprehension.
They have achieved their goal because of our combined, tireless efforts to support them, to teach them, and to help them cross this finish line! Although today and tomorrow we will gather together to celebrate the graduates, I hope you also celebrate your role in this tremendous accomplishment.
Thank you for all you do to guide our students on their journey to success. Whether you teach, advise, provide support services, or keep our operations running, your work matters. You are part of a university that changes lives. As you watch our smiling students walk across the stage in their scarlet and gray, I hope you feel a deep sense of pride in the part you’ve played as a member of this campus community.
As we look ahead, a lot of work remains. Nevada’s 83rd legislative session is entering its final weeks, and I am grateful to everyone – employees, students, and supporters – who have and continue to advocate for ºÚÁÏÍø. We’re also continuing our work to enhance safety and security on our campuses, improve operations and processes, and continue to build connections with our community and external partners.
Given the shifting national landscape, I know this academic year has included periods of uncertainty for many on campus and throughout higher education. I am incredibly proud of how our university community has persevered and remained focused on our important mission. In the face of many changes and challenges, you’ve stayed true to our purpose, and that resilience will certainly carry us forward.
Finally, for those able to take some time off this summer, I hope that you can enjoy a much-deserved break to rest and replenish before returning to ºÚÁÏÍø this fall energized and inspired to guide our university forward in its vital mission.
Warm wishes,
Chris Heavey
ºÚÁÏÍø President
