ºÚÁÏÍø is aware that some students and OPT employees whose SEVIS records were recently terminated have now had their records returned to active status. We are actively monitoring developments and will share updates as soon as more information becomes available. We appreciate your continued patience and understanding. We are reaching out to impacted students individually to provide personalized information as it becomes available.
What We Know
Late on April 24, 2025, some U.S. colleges and universities began seeing SEVIS records that were previously terminated returned to active status. At ºÚÁÏÍø, all seven of our terminated SEVIS records have now been restored to active status. These changes were discovered by the team during regular monitoring. We have not received official communication from the Department of Homeland Security.
Please note that these reactivations only affect SEVIS records. If a student’s F-1 visa was also revoked by the Department of State, the visa remains invalid and cannot be used for reentry into the United States. A new visa would be required to return to the U.S.
What We Don’t Know
Without direct communication from the U.S. government, several important questions remain unanswered, including:
- Whether the Department of State will reinstate any F-1 visas that were revoked during the last few weeks.
- Whether all SEVIS records across the U.S. will be fully restored to active status, or if there is a possibility that they could be terminated again in the future.
- Whether impacted students will be able to return to the U.S. to complete their studies.
