    Synopsis: NIH through Notice Number NOT-OD-25-113 announced a Notice of Early Expiration of Notices of Funding Opportunities Related to the Simplified Reviewer Framework for NIH Research Grant Applications. NIH will expire the listed NOFOs at the end of the current application cycle (May 24, 2025). NIH will accept R01, R21 and R34 continuous submission applications intended for the standard May 7鈥

    New NIH Foreign Subaward Structure Enhances Integrity, Accountability, Oversight, and National Security of NIH Funded Research. Effective with the next NIH award cycle, all NIH-funded research involving foreign subawards must be structured as subprojects directly linked to the prime award. Foreign subawards are prohibited from being nested under the parent grant.

    NIH has announced that they are accelerating the implementation of the 2024 NIH Public Access Policy. It will now go into effect on July 1, 2025. In 2024, NIH revised the Public Access Policy to remove the embargo period so that researchers, students, and members of the public have rapid access to these findings.

    A Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) was issued in the case of Association of American Universities v. Dept. of Energy. The TRO enjoins the Department of Energy (DOE) from 鈥渋mplementing, instituting, maintaining, or giving effect鈥 to its new policy limiting financial support of indirect costs to 15%, as well as from making any other modifications to negotiated indirect cost rates.
