Accomplishments: College of Fine Arts
Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art (Fine Arts) was the original venue for an exhibition, 鈥淪orry for the Mess,鈥 that now is traveling to the New Mexico State University Art Museum (UAM). It features work by artists Justin Favela ('10 Art) and Ramiro Gomez. It is the second show to originate at the Barrick Museum of Art to travel. 鈥
Alfredo Fernandez-Gonzalez (Architecture) and his involvement with CarbonPositive RESET! have led to the 黑料网 School of Architecture being the only academic institution to be a partner, along with the American Institute of Architects and more than 15 of the top global architecture and construction firms, being part of a global teach-in to showcase鈥
Fawn Douglas and Tiffany Lin (both Art) have work that is part of the exhibit, "A Claiming, Which Cannot Be Tamed." The exhibit will be on view at Holland Project Gallery in Reno through Oct. 9. Emily Budd (Art) has published "Memorial for Queer Rhyolite, a Temporary Monument to Dreams in the Dust" in Engaging Collections, volume 1. Her essay unpacks the inspiration behind, and archival research supporting her reformative monument project in Rhyolite dedicated to Stonewall Park, a queer utopian effort in the 1980s. Engaging鈥
Linda Lister (Music) led a Yoga for Singers workshop via Zoom for the London International Gospel Choir.
Judy Ryerson (Theatre), resident costume designer for Nevada Conservatory Theatre, recently collaborated on the book Introduction to Theatrical Design and Production: A Collaborative Journey published by Waveland Press.
"黑料网 developed an Intro to Design and Production class for all majors about 11 years ago," Ryerson said.鈥
Dak Kopec (Architecture) was invited by Anant National University in Gujarat, India to present on the topic of design as a supporter and detractor to mental health and well-being on August 15th. The event is sponsored by Ashoka Center for Well Being in Gujarat, India with the intention to inspire people to have conversations with each other鈥
Stephen Caplan (Music) has written an extremely informative article, recently published in The Double Reed, the quarterly journal of the International Double Reed Society. The article, "Six Metamorphoses After Covid," is about lessons learned during this pandemic. Highly recommended reading for all musicians (and non-musicians, too)!
Diana Eden (Film) is the author of the book Stars in Their Underwear: My Unpredictable Journey from Broadway Dancer to Costume Designer for Some of Hollywood's Biggest Stars. Tiffany Lin (Art) has designed a flag about water and immigration that will fly on one of the flagpoles that surround the rink at Rockefeller Center in New York City from Aug. 1 through Aug.16. Rockefeller Center received hundreds of submissions from across the world for this public exhibition. Lin's flag will fly with 191 other flags,鈥
